Real name Ian Hicks, DJ Hixxy was originally into Hip Hop and Rap music before discovering the hardcore scene when it took off in England. Early on, DJ Hixxy used to hang around with Ramos and Supreme and gained a lot of experience from this. DJ Hixxy began DJ'ing in 91 but it wasn't until he met DJ Dougal that things really began to take off.

Together with Dougal, DJ Hixxy started a new label called "Essential Platinum" which was geared towards happy hardcore. It was the first release on this label that pushed DJ Hixxy to instant success and fame. Along with MC Sharkey, DJ Hixxy produced a track called "Toy Town" which was an instant anthem that was played out by every happy hardcore DJ on the circuit.

From there, DJ Hixxy has managed to gain bookings at all the top raves, including Dreamscape, Helter Skelter etc. DJ Hixxy is still producing many tunes for Essential Platinum and the label is possibly the strongest label on the happy hardcore circuit.
